Sound Art and Music
Valeria Radchenko is a singer-songwriter, music producer, composer and DJ. Their sonic practice is founded in vocal improvisation. Aside from self-releasing their own music, they compose and produce soundtracks for films and performances by artists and filmmakers. Their background in creative coding has led them to use code to synthesise sounds and create tools for AV performances. They also lead vocal workshops, exploring the effects of vocalising as a group, and teach music production independently, e.g. short courses and 1-1 sessions.
Radchenko explores sound as a form of touch. They are interested in how sound can be used to produce altered states of consciousness, e.g. trance, and how it can be used to facilitate connection and transformation. They are fascinated by the emotional potential of electronic music, how it can produce feelings that can’t be felt otherwise, or uncover hidden emotions - how digital sound synthesis can be used to move listeners and express what is fundamentally human.
